The game of authors had considerable history before its incarnation as an offering from McLoughlin Bros., but this version is a slick, packaged production with dazzling color for which the firm was justly famous. This game appears in an undated catalog believed to be published for the 1894 year.
The game includes a box, 54 cards, and instructions all of which are in very good to excellent condition for their age. The lid is somewhat concave, there is toning on the box, the insides possibly showing faint foxing. The cards and instructions are in fine condition.
The inside of the lid is stamped with E. G. Billings whom I surmise was the merchant who sold from the famous Conrad Building in Providence, Rhode Island.
