Louis Auguste Moreau, along with his brother Hippolyte, produced bronzes, the former of whom established a reputation for fine neo-classical figural work, of which these two vases are an example. The brothers produced spelter copies of their bronzes for broader sales, as is the case with our pair. They feature mythological characters - possibly Eros and Venus - ledged upon the bulbous portion of the vase. These wonderful antique vases are mounted on marble plinths and were made around 1880 or so.
Condition is good but certainly not perfect as some of the patina has worn in various places such as on the leg of Eros. We will happily provide additional photos upon request.
