A visually rich patinated antique cast iron fireback depicting a young woman accompanied by her faithful dog and a pet bird perched on her hand. The main image is framed by 3 layers of bordering whose elaborate detail only adds to beautiful vignette cast in high relief.

The condition of the fireback is good with notable oxidation areas which should be notable in the images we provided. The back has its original strong chain which allows hanging. It is beautiful enough to be displayed on ordinary walls. This piece is unmarked but most likely is Continental, with our first vote for Germany. It dates to the late 19th C. or possibly very early 20th.
