Daum glass, whose tenuous beginnings trace to the Verrerie Saint Catherine which Jean Daum acquired in settlement of debt in 1878, has earned a top place in glass collections due to its virtuosity, innovation, and endurance

His sons Auguste and Antonin led the firm new directions which focused on artistic productions which by the 1890s and early 20th century earned awards and acclaim for merit and leadership, fusing ancient and modern glass making techniques to produce masterpieces equal or superior to the very best of French competitors.

Unlike many of its contemporaries, Daum successfully navigated the vicissitudes of changing styles, economic upheavals, and wars to maintain relevance in art glass to the present time.

The company is most noted for its cameo glass, pate de verre, and crystals, the latter of which are more prominent in its post war production.
